Record Feeder Cattle Shipments Hit New Peak in October
Iowa State College figures show Corn Belt feeders shipped more stocker and feeder cattle in October than any prior month on record. October shipments were 14 percent higher than a year earlier, with movement into Iowa and Illinois especially large. Four months July through October set a new Corn Belt record, up 23 percent from last year, while Kansas wheat pastures and Nebraska South Dakota feedlots also saw heavy movements. The trend suggests higher finished cattle volumes after the new year, with limited near term supply gains.
