Recruits receive free board, uniforms, and pay during four to eight weeks of training, then ship berths and regular mariner pay. Demobilization totals released by War Department

Washington April 26 reports show 1 832 523 officers and men released from the army to date with 90 295 in commissioned grades. Orders issued for demobilization of 1 975 000. 676 732 have returned to the United States. Volunteers now 18 $78 with 4 955 for expeditionary forces 818 for the Philippines 280 in Hawaii and 35 in the Panama canal zone.

205 Divers at Bottom of Sea Sims Believes

New York April 27 Rear Admiral W S Sims who commanded the American fleet in European waters said he believed there were 205 German submarines at the bottom of the sea in a speech to the Bond andas Victory Loan organization He added the fleet found many subs stuck on the bottom with indications that those inside either killed themselves or killed each other
