The McKinley county creation bill, after smooth Senate passage, was tabled in the House last Saturday. With a two thirds vote needed to bring it back, revival this session seems unlikely as dissolution nears. The Review notes a vigorous, bipartisan fight and promises to explain later the bill’s likely defeat and the political pressures involved.
In 1919 as America shifts to peacetime production, the piece urges continued fiscal duty. It argues the nation must save, buy stamps and bonds, eliminate waste, and join a War Savings Society to honor those who fought. It emphasizes patriotism over private comfort and calls for collective effort to secure lasting peace.

Communities with strong organization saw near elimination of gophers while non cooperative areas lagged. new legislation may enforce compliance. A county wide “Gopher Day” will pool oats and poison at cost under Farm Bureau supervision with plainer oats recommended and higher strychnine prices anticipated this year.
