The Helena based Sister Benedicta of St Joseph's Orphan Home marked the 50th anniversary of her joining the Sisters of Charity and her wartime mercy at the Big Hole battlefield where Nez Perce under Chief Joseph faced General Gibbons. She and Sister Ligouri aided wounded at Deer Lodge hospital and later helped found St Joseph's orphan home in Helena. Father Palladino, with Missoula plans, chronicled the era and its figures.

Billings Indian Fighter Samuel Fisher Dies at 72
Samuel Fisher, a prominent figure in early Montana history, died in Billings at age 72. Born August 10, 1846 in Rosses Point New York, he crossed to the West as a youth, served as a trusted scout with General Gibbons, helped build the Northern Pacific line, later traded furs near Custer Montana, and was widowed by his wife Rose Reitzel after a car accident. He spent recent years residing in the Billings district.

Flight to Sheridan by air cuts 150 miles to two hours
Joseph Leiter, a Forsyth cattle grower, piloted a Curtis airplane to fly 150 miles to Sheridan, Wyoming in about two hours.
