Ford Motor Company asserts two and a half million daily users and a car every twenty nine seconds as proof of demand. The company claims historic growth over fourteen years and urges Pioneer Imp and Auto Co to inform prospects about the pace, price, and immediate delivery.
Walter N. Kernan of Utica, overseas commissioner for the Knights of Columbus, returns from France praising Allied morale and predicts complete and splendid victory in 1919 if America accelerates its war effort. He cites Pershing and Allied commanders, urges dropping pessimism and embracing momentum against Germany. He notes British morale and German expectations of defeat in future battles.
Major Murphy outlines Red Cross growth from 17 to 2500 workers with 500 motor ambulances in France and 200 in Italy. He notes stockpiled warehouses, transport capacity, and plans to spend 35 million dollars by May 1 while praising soldiers’ conduct and regular medical visits by Red Cross doctors. Major James H. Perkins to succeed him in Europe.
Major Grayson M. P. Murphy, former head of the American Red Cross abroad, arrived at the Atlantic port today and praised the extraordinary work in Europe especially in France. He said American soldiers in France will lack nothing when they return home.
Twenty percent of global shipping was destroyed or interned, leaving insufficient capacity to move Europe’s food. Concentrated foods offer the most nourishment per shipment, with beef, pork and mutton, wheat, sugar and fats highlighted as essential.
