Four masked robbers entered the Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Bemis in a Omaha suburb before noon. They lined six employees and five customers, took 115000 in cash and bonds, and escaped in an automobile. Three robbers forced captives into the vault and locked them inside until escape via a hidden screwdriver.
The article profiles Lieutenant General Robert Lee Bullard succeeding Major General Thomas H. Barry as commander of the department of the east with headquarters on Governors Island.
