Local notes report warmer weather and an assured ice crop as snow blocks ease with a rotary aid to trains. Dates include Washington's Birthday and upcoming dances for Red Cross fundraisers. Community updates cover visits, farm activity, new store preparations, land purchases, and a grocery market merger in the Grass Range area.
Sarah Davidson and Emma Koenitz won first and second prizes in the Montana Lumber Company essay contest at the high school on Why Every Family Should Own Their Own Home. Gratitude is extended to Mr. Faragher for his generous prize. The same day W R Davis and Mrs Donoho accompanied the students to Winnett for a debate between Grass Range and Winnett high schools. Winnett won by three points, though mismatched questions left Grass Range at a disadvantage. A Sunday night program in the schoolhouse drew a strong crowd despite a severe storm, with the school band earning encores. The next community program is set for Friday night March 1 at the schoolhouse. An organizer will be at the schoolhouse Saturday February 23 at 2 PM to establish a Junior Red Cross. parents are urged to attend.
The First National Bank announces a Farmers Record and Account Book to aid in preparing annual income tax returns. Customers may obtain the book by visiting the bank. A limited number of safety deposit boxes are available for $2.50 per year with a leather case provided. The bank will also provide the full Federal Farm Loan laws upon request.
Notice is given to stockholders of The Grass Range Creamery & Produce Co. that the annual meeting will be held on Tuesday February 26 1918. All stockholders are requested to be present. Frank F Miles secretary.

Contested land described as nok pe 34 nw, swt ne Sec. 22 Tp. 17N R in Montana. grounds allege decedent died December 1915, no heirs or representatives located, land abandoned, entry may be cancelled if no answer within twenty days after notice. An auction notice states that from the 23rd of this month at Vinson Feed and Sale Barn in Grass Range, Butler and Woodworth offer about 40 head of well broke work horses and mares weighing 1200 to 1600, plus about 50 milk cows aged 3 to 6, all bred in Fergus County. Prices to suit current conditions.
