Government to Stand the Loss on Wheat
Washington February six 1919 wheat price policy approved by the house agriculture committee would let the government buy at 2.26 a bushel and sell to consumers under law of supply and demand the government would absorb the difference and faces large potential losses. The bill provides a 1 billion dollar revolving fund and grants broad government control over wheat handling and exports with a licensing system and a future regulatory body similar to the food administration and a grain corporation to manage the crop.
