Astronomical Mirror by Professor Wood

A revolving mercury mirror engineered to aid astronomy uses a metal dish with magnets at its edge and an encircling iron ring. The ring spins separately under motor power, magnetically driving the mercury container to rotate. Centrifugal force shapes a smooth concave surface, stabilized by a deep well and solid foundation to minimize shocks.
