A national farm income report shows Van Zandt County farmers ended the year in better financial shape than many. High demand and good weather boosted output as farmers used more fertilizer and improved efficiency, with gross receipts totaling 28.441 million dollars, up from 21.089 million two years earlier. Government payments and in kind income remained smaller components of income. The current year also looks fairly good for farmers overall despite some weather woes and price dips.
