Van ISD to Hold $2 750 000 Bond Election

Van Independent School District schedules a December 4 bond election from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Van High School library to fund a new high school complex a kindergarten first grade building and upgrades to existing facilities. Quitman man Gayle Ingram seeks Texas Senate seat

Gayle Ingram of Quitman announced his candidacy for the Texas Senate from the new Second District in the May Democratic primary. The 42 year old cattleman and businessman emphasized experience in business and government to foster a strong rural economy and a practical state government. He and his wife Dorothy have three children and are active in the Baptist Church.

The First United Methodist Church opens Advent with morning worship at 10 55 a.m. on Sunday November 28 featuring guest organist Lee Chevalier who will premiere a memory piece for Gene Germany. Main Street WMU Thanksgiving Program at Nursing Home

The Women's Missionary Union of Main Street Baptist Church held a Thanksgiving program on November 17 for Anderson Care Nursing Home patients. Mrs. Z. L. Nations led in the absence of the WMI president. Mrs. Homer Lander gave the devotional, Mrs. Mildred White led singing, and Mrs. Tom Pesnell offered thanks with closing prayer. Fruit baskets with Bible scriptures were distributed by WMI women afterward.
