Sixteen Grand Saline students are among 560 candidates for Tyler Junior College graduation in Apache Gym May 30 at 7 30 p m. Congressman Ray Roberts will speak. Fruitvale CIA Receives $100 Award at Banquet

The Fruitvale Community Improvement Association will receive a $100 check from the Texas Community Committee and a certificate from the A M Extension Service. Ten electric power companies support the program. The banquet Friday June 6 at 8 p m in the Fruitvale School Auditorium features a guest speaker on the group's past year. Tickets cost $1.50 at local service stations and grocery stores.

Memorial Day at Jamestown Homecoming Set

Memorial Day events at Jamestown scheduled for Sunday June 1 begin at 10 a.m. with Weldon Howard of Houston delivering the message at 10 45. A basket lunch will be spread at noon followed by singing in the afternoon. Everyone is invited to attend.

Triplets Born at Home in Hawkins in May 1923

Flora and the late Frank Morrison welcomed triplets Fred Florene and Frank in Hawkins on May 26 1923. Hospitals were scarce then and a wood stove served as incubator. Gov Pat Neff sent congratulations and later funded scholarships. Triplets celebrate yearly at their mother’s Hawkins home and each family has multiple children.

Broom Sale To Benefit Local Blind Workers And Lions Club

A broom and mop sale organized by the Light House For The Blind will take place in front of Clover Furniture Store on May 29. Lions Club volunteers will run the truck and proceeds support glasses for Grand Saline Schoolchildren.

Summer Recreation Kicks Off In Grand Saline Youth Nights

Churches in Grand Saline join with the S.R.A. to offer Saturday night recreation for school age youth from June 14 to July 12 in the old gym. A Moody Bible Institute film series with singing by local groups will be shown each week. Concessions proceeds support the program.

Recreation Program Set At Main Street Baptist

A city wide teenage recreation program will be hosted by Main Street Baptist Church every Thursday night from 7 to 9 starting June 5 and continuing through the summer. Led by David Garrett the activities include volleyball croquet horseshoes ping pong and table games with refreshments. Mrs Inez Adams remains hospitalized in Corby Germany Hospital after a heart attack.

Teresa Weatherall, daughter of Mr and Mrs Raymond L Weatherall, chosen Queen of the Grand Saline Riding Club rodeo to be held June 5 6 and 7. Parade Marshall Clyde Darnell leads the parade with Indian Band participation and a downtown Prison Rodeo feature. Rodeo nightly events include calf roping bareback and bull riding steer dogging barrel racing and junior events. SRA 1969 Summer Schedule For Local Youths

The Summer Recreation Association releases a 1969 program for first graders through high school. Play Day in the old gym runs Tuesdays 3:30 to 7:30 with July 1 8 shortened. Saturday night entertainments June 14 to July 12 run 7 to 9. Swimming at Mastersons with per class fees and specific schedules for beginner to advanced boys and girls. Baseball schedules include Pony League Little League High Junior League and more with numerous games across Canton Edgewood GS Mineola Quitman Lindale and other venues through late June and early July.
