Austin Lady Indians Ready For State Softball
The Grand Saline Lady Indians head to the state tournament at Pleasant Valley Sports Complex facing defending champion Blooming Grove at 1 p.m. Friday with Hawley taking on Shiner at 3 p.m. The title game is set for 9 a.m. Saturday. Six players remain from 1995, led by Jennifer Parker and Meghan Koonce. Pitcher Kristi Lide is 17-1 with a .414 average, and Parker leads with a .531 average as the team aims to win the state title.

Grand Saline, led by Meghan Koonce on a two RBI triple, toppled Cross Roads 6-4 in eight innings at Athens Cain Center. Koonce drove Parker home in the third and again in the seventh as Cross Roads tied the game in the bottom of the seventh before the late rally secured the regional final victory for the Lady Indians.

Indians Clinch District Win With Seven Home Runs
The Grand Saline Indians ended district play with a 17-3 win over Cayuga on May 6 at Cayuga. Seven homers, six two run shots, and Justin Horvath two no hit innings with three homers in three trips to the plate highlight the victory. Hathcock and others added more long balls as Grand Saline sweeps district play to 10-0 and moves to 17-5. They visit Winona at 7 30 p.m. at Kilgore Driller Park in bi district play.
