Commissioners agree on impact study for county agenda items

Van Zandt County Commissioners adopt new rules requiring a financial impact statement for any agenda item. County Judge Jeff Fisher outlined that the item must be approved by the County Auditor’s office before submission to the secretary for the next available agenda. The memo says the aim is improved upfront planning to prevent unexpected budget costs and to ensure items brought to Court are fully prepared. The motion, seconded by Precinct 3 Commissioner Jimmy Don Wilson, requires any requester to submit an impact study to the auditor to reveal the cost implications.
