Smith Receives B S Degree From North Texas State University

Jackie Smith son of Mr and Mrs Jack Smith and son in law of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Lewis of Grand Saline earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts at North Texas State University on June 2. He was among 750 graduates in the June exercises. He and his wife Glenda plan to reside in Houston where he will work for Southern Industrial Steel Co.

Everitt Receives Early Army Promotion for Promising Service

Larry T Everitt of Canton route 4 receives early promotion to private E-2 after basic training at Fort Polk Louisiana on May 22. His rifle proficiency high physical test score and leadership earned the two month early promotion under a Department of the Army incentive policy. A 1961 Canton High School graduate, he previously worked for Vermont Marble Company in Dallas.

Texas youth tour visits Washington and historic sites

Sixty winners from 30 electric systems in Texas traveled by bus to Washington for a 10 day tour with chaperones. They attended a Congressional breakfast, met Texas lawmakers, visited the Capitol and archives, and witnessed a wreath laying at President Kennedy's gravesite. They also toured NRECA headquarters and the Department of Agriculture, learning about Rural Electrification Administration programs.
