Commissioners Approve 20 Year Retirement Plan in Vanzant
County commissioners voted Monday to adopt a 20 year retirement plan as recommended by the state, with full benefits after 12 years at age 60. The 30 year option would raise retirement benefits by 15.1 percent but would likely cover fewer employees. The county plans to split premiums with employees and notes the program takes effect January 1 1975 with the 12 and 20 year retirement ages. Local welfare officials introduced four new employees and stressed public cooperation. Regional businesses report mixed 1974 results though some show upturns in December and January sales while unemployment in the area remains near the state rate of 5.1 percent.

The Salt Employees Federal Credit Union will hold its annual meeting on Saturday January 25 at 6 30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
