Funeral services for W Elmer Cofer 75 were held February 4 at Easter and Maxon Chapel El Paso with Rev George W Burroughs officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery. He had lived in El Paso six months after moving from Fort Worth and belonged to Hemphill Presbyterian Church Hemphill Heights Masonic Lodge Moslah Shrine Scottish Rite Consistory and was a 50 year member of the Order of Railway Conductors. He is survived by his widow Maude two sisters and two brothers.

Market On Cattle Reports Good Returns In Emory Sale
FE W Metzger of the Rains County Livestock Commission says cattle market is strong. Light stocker steers 300 to 375 pounds bring 32 to 35 cents per pound while heifers bring about 31 to 33 cents. Cows and calves sell from 175 to 200 dollars, stocker cows around 135 to 185. Buyers including national and order buyers attended the Emory sale with auctions every Tuesday at 12 30 p m.

Red Cross Campaign Kicked Off in Van Zandt County
The Van Zandt County Red Cross Drive began Tuesday night at a Canton banquet, chaired by A. L. Howell. County goal set at $2490 with Bill Robertson as speaker outlining relief work including 40 percent of funds aiding service members, disaster relief, water safety, home nursing classes, and blood donations. Two Guilty Pleas In Canton Court Actions
Two men in Canton pleaded guilty this week at the County Courthouse. Roy Perry, 28, of Big Rock near Mahank, received four years for assault with intent to murder in a January shooting of his stepfather Willie Berry. Jerry Edward Richards was sentenced to two years for burglary of a private residence owned by B. B. Doggett, near Canton. The Grand Jury was recalled for a February 26 session to consider about 12 cases. Edwin Hardegree Ben Wheeler served as Grand Jury foreman.

Grand Saline High School senior Charlotte Land has advanced to the finals of the 1958-59 National Merit Scholarship Program and earned a Certificate of Merit. Principal Dan O Douglass notes her high scores on two college aptitude tests. About six-tenths of one percent of seniors in each state won the award.

Dog Vaccination Set For Saturday
Dogs will be vaccinated Saturday February 28 on the east side of City Hall. L L Davis will be on hand from 9 a m to 5 p m to vaccinate. Dogs were last vaccinated March 1 1958. It is a city ordinance that all dogs running loose without a vaccination tag will be shot.

One Slightly Hurt In FM 17 Accident
State Patrolman Kenneth Tidwell reported a 1957 car driven by Miss Billie Christine Jordan of Dallas skidded on a slick Canton Road FM 17 and struck a culvert eight miles southwest of Crand Saline. Passenger Miss Billie King of Dallas suffered minor injuries and was treated and released.
