The American Heart Association aims to raise 500 by its 147 Hurst Punch drive with plans underway. February is American Heart Month and funds will back educational programs community services and research chaired by Mrs Wiley Garland of Ill.
Saline Scene reports Indian cagers capped the season with a victory over Mohank, as spring sports begin with baseball and track. The Heart Month drive runs Saturday with 2, 3, and 4 p.m. drawings at the Howard Publishing offices, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. City and rural volunteers are mobilized for heart awareness and fund collection, led by Mrs. Garland and city chairmen listed, urging generous support to fight heart diseases in America.
Grand Saline school board met Tuesday night to renew contracts for high school and elementary principals and set trustee elections for April 2 with March 2 filing deadline. Gerald Gilbert and Shirley Anderson had contracts extended. election judge named. foundation funds approved for 406,967 with portions for salaries, equalization aid, and transportation. Public School Week planned for March 7-11 with open houses and programs, track pit funding discussed by Indian Sports Booster Club.
