One Charged With Arson In Van Zandt County
James R. Waggoner, 46, formerly of Edgewood now in Elmo, released Feb 5 to Kaufman County on auto theft after posting a $1000 bond for willfully setting grass fires. He also paid fines in Wills Point for public drunkenness and driving without a license. Waggoner was apprehended after a department alert for the vehicle, issued by Edgewood Fire Department to the Van Zandt County Sheriff about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, as Edgewood firemen answered two grass fires. Deputy Pete Wright investigated the fires and charged Waggoner with starting them. Sheriff Ward said three burglaries were reported in the county, including Colfax Grocery owned by Joyce Clements entered through the back door with tools, thefts including cigars and bologna from the refrigerator, Feb. 6, and the home of Arty Hayes of Edom also entered. Means Heads Annual Easter Seal Campaign in Van Zandt
Means Murry Means of Grand Saline will lead the 1976 Easter Seal Appeal in Van Zandt County announced by Irving A. Baker of Dallas president of the Easter Seal Society for Crip pled Children and Adults of Texas Residents in the county will receive the letters beginning March 1. The appeal aids disabled persons and their families with treatment and service and runs through Easter Sunday April 18. Means is one of 234 Texans serving in this capacity to help meet the statewide program costs. In 1975 the Easter Seal program assisted 10 768 handicapped Texans with $1 820 547 spent by the Texas Easter Seal Society and its network.
