Early Oil Test Now Definite For Silver Lake
A Woodbine test for the Silver Lake area was confirmed this week as two Longview men filed for a well in the John Hanks survey. A. R. Graves and Donald Polls stake the location 1.5 miles southwest of Silver Lake with drilling expected soon to reach 5,000 feet. Shell Oil Co in Tyler reported the Ranis County deep test shows no pay at 12,500 feet and that a decision on deepening the hole will come by mid next week.

Mrs. Lucy Rhodes 77 longtime Van Grand Saline resident died Friday afternoon at her daughter's home in Van. Funeral held Saturday at Van Methodist Church with Rev. Kermit Prichett and Rev.
