Edd and Evelyn Teague volunteer with MMAP a non profit Christian group that provides free labor for church camps missions and orphanages. The couple aged 58 to 80 travel in self contained RVs work four days a week for three week projects paying their own costs and insurance. They have worked in Mississippi Iowa and North Dakota and value faith and service over leisure.

Fall soccer leagues form with August registration days
Registration for fall soccer leagues will be held on August 12 and 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Grand Saline Salt Palace. Teams for children four and up will play at the Grand Saline Rodeo grounds starting September 9. Fees are 25 dollars for under eight and 30 dollars for eight and above. Wiley Post History Festival set for September ninth
The third annual Wiley Post History Festival will honor aviator Wiley Post and local history Saturday September 9 in downtown. Sponsored by the Wiley Post Memorial Association, events include car and quilt shows, a flight themed kids’ program, an invention contest, chili cookoff and crafts. Schools prep for opening day at Grand Saline
Grand Saline schools announce opening day Thursday August 10 at 8 am for all grades. Elementary arrivals by 7:50 am, middle by 7:45 am, pre kindy 8 11 or noon 3. Dismissals vary by grade with bus riders at 3:30 pm and walkers at 3:25 pm. Breakfast 65 cents, lunch 1.15, extra milk 25 cents.

Grand Saline Youth Foundation sees a good summer
McGinn says the summer was largely successful with some bumps. About 300 children played T-ball and coach pitch, with several teams reaching final tournaments. He notes kids are enjoying activities and learning, and the foundation ends the season financially solid as it reviews final numbers.

Trophy Day Honors Youth Foundation Participants Saturday
All children who participated in the summer Youth Foundation program will be recognized at a trophy day this Saturday at 10 a.m. The event at the pavilion will award trophies medals or ribbons for participation. The concession stand will offer hamburgers and other items and coaches and players are asked to return equipment.
