Grand Saline swept most events at the East Texas District Meet held April 17 on the campus of East Texas State College. District winners earn a chance to represent Grand Saline at the Regional Meet in Denton on April 25, with students earning spots in Prose Reading, Poetry Interpretation, Ready Writing, Slide Rule, Number Sense, and Spelling. In Daingerfield Track Meet, Grand Saline athletes placed in Discus, Shot Put, 880 Dash, and more, with regional competition set for Saturday in Denton.

About 350 Scouts from Grand Saline Troop 274 and parents gathered at Wesley Hall on April 20 for a ceremony featuring a donated 17 foot aluminum canoe valued around 260 dollars christened the Salt Queen. District Scout Executive Lou Gunter praised the cooperative effort of volunteers. Officers and leaders were elected at the rechartering conference.

Dedication Of New Church Building Well Attended
