Mr and Mrs Wm Brehm and son and Grandma Brehm left for Beloit for a week. F H Gallatine and Son completed a 33 by 44 barn basement for Albert Springer in Sigel. Herman Abel Charles Shearer and Louis Schamansky, who worked at Manistee Michigan, are home for a visit. Wm Crosland purchased the old Mark Pratt home on Oak Street from Louis Relchel and will occupy it at once. Mr and Mrs J B Mull have rented rooms on the Daly track. A son was born to Mr and Mrs Albert Krommensicker on Monday June 11 1917. Gesorge Ward of Babcock was in the city on business. Miss Irene Laramite accepted a position in the Ray Sutor confectionery store during vacation. Mr and Mrs Guy Wood of Eau Claire were in the city over Sunday visiting at the I J Wood home. James Smolarek a young farmer of Sigel town called at the office on Friday. Dr Russell Lyon of Wausau spent Friday in the city visiting relatives and looking after business matters. Delbert Trudell son of Mr and Mrs Oliver Trudell Third Ave North returned from Wausau where he had been in the hospital three weeks with knee injury from football. no operation performed.

Park meat prices and local notes from Marshfield district
During the Civil War meat price figures were used to gauge today’s values with pork bringing $47 a hundred if paper money depreciated to wartime levels. Geo Horn of Vesper, a hardware merchant, returned from Marshfield where he recovered from multiple operations and typhoid fever aided by a trained nurse from Baltimore. He weighed over 109 pounds during illness and is slowly regaining strength.

Browned at Marshfield drowning claims 12 year old
Herbert Trossen, 12, son of Mr and Mrs Louis Trossen, drowned Thursday at 5 20 pm in the artificial lake at the water up station. He swam with Orrin Graham and Winton Bille, built a miniature boat in the Graham barn, then capsized about 20 feet from shore in five feet of water. The boy disappeared after surfacing three times. engineer Otto Meyer and Dr Potter aided but could not revive him.
