Dr. C. J. Geary has moved to new quarters in the Citizens National Bank building. He expects to complete preparations within a week and anticipates a top tier dental practice with supremely equipped instruments and furnishings for first class service to patrons in the region.
Wood county offers calf and pig clubs open to youth under twenty one. Requirements include pig born after March 1 1978 and pure bred or grade, weighed monthly, kept accounts, and market price fed costs. Calves born in 1918, weighed monthly, show costs, and Marshfield fair must be attended. Miss Margaret Ragan visited Milwaukee for readings attracting praise.
The Red Cross bazaar will run March 18 to 28 at the Amusement Hall in Grand Rapids. T A Taylor and associates organize nightly vaudeville, band concerts, booths, and a phonograph prize funded by Daly Music. Admission is ten cents with proceeds aiding the Red Cross.
Otto R Rophius of this city will be in Wausau this evening to deliver an address at a Reliks meeting for the observance of the fiftieth anniversary of the order's organization. Mrs. Madge Muir Morrill, born in Neillsville Wisconsin, died at home on the east side after a five month illness. She would have turned 44 next May 15. Survivor include husband Edward Morrill two children her father Archie Muir and four siblings. Funeral at 1 30 Friday afternoon from the Feniscal church with Rev R J Roekstroh officiating.
The Citizens Patriotic League denies aggressive ward tapping and calls for appointments to come from headquarters. It frames the dry movement as open and patriotic, denying harassment and urging support from sympathizers while stressing proper, authorized conduct.
At the Elks regular meeting last Tuesday officers were nominated for election at the next lodge meeting. Nominations included P. C. Daly as exalted ruler, J. Parley and C. T. Foote as esteemed leading knight, John Roberts as esteemed loyal knight, O. R. Moore as lecturing, I. W. Calkins as secretary, M. J. Gepress as treasurer, A. C. Sierck as tiler, and Ray Love as trustee.
The Waugau basketball team played the local Red Cross team and were defeated 34 to 39. A good turnout attended, and after settling the deficit from the previous game, about 12 remained to be turned over to the Red Grass.
Lieut J B Gillespie of the Engineer Reserve Corps arrived in Chilton from Milwaukee to visit his parents and received a War Department telegram to report for service in Washington Wednesday. A Chilton native and Stockbridge Chilton alum, he graduated from Wisconsin University in engineering and has held key posts with the Chicago Northwestern and Wisconsin Highway Commission before joining the 21st Engineers Reserve Corps ready to serve in France.
Farmers urged to list farms with EDW.N. POMAINVILLE REAL ESTATE LOANS INSURANCE after attending the Milwaukee Brokers Convention. Bulletin plans to mail broadly, inquiries arriving about farms, promising a good year for disposal and exchanges as the firm positions itself as a clearing house for all property types.
In a northern region farmers rally to salvage surplus potatoes. Mayors and local citizens push Hoover for rail cars, form a Plainfield association with 100 farmers contributing to ship tubers by box car. Lyle, Albert Behrend, Frank Abel, and Guy Miller found in favor of the defendant. C. Be. Briere defended, with District Attorney John Roberts handling for the state.
Chief Payne picked up Joseph Smula on a vagrancy charge last week. Smula, from Trempealeau County, left to evade military duty, and was later seized by the sheriff after arriving in town.
Paul C Bease sold the greenhouse and buildings to H C Ebsen of Marshfield during the past week. Bease departed today for Milwaukee to take the U S Navy examination. Ebsen is a florist with many years of experience. Attorney Frank Calkins transacted business in Wausau Monday.
