Fire damages E C Ketchams house in city fringe

A northern city residence owned by E C Ketcham suffered heavy damage from a Friday morning fire. The blaze started under the stairway and, aided by neighbors, bucket brigades, smoke and water, the interior and contents were badly damaged. Outcome estimates place losses around two thousand dollars with insurance unsettled.

Council Meeting Deliberates Donations and Schedules Paving

The city council met with Mayor Wheelan presiding. A $1000 donation to Riverview Hospital was rejected after discussions. Paving is postponed until 1918 while preliminary work proceeds this summer.
