Independents Battle Recall For Two North Dakota Senators

Northwest fuel distributor appointed for coal in northwest

St Paul Sept 25 C P White named northwest federal fuel distributor with authority over cost and distribution to northwestern states. Planes for coal distribution in the northwest territory were announced with forms mailed to dock companies and orders routed through the Northwestern Coal Dock Operators Association.

Whiskey seized at Portal by federal agents today

Fargo North Dakota September 25 three carloads of bonded whiskey totaling 9000 cases valued between 350000 and 400000 will be seized late today at Portal by federal prohibition agents led by A A Stone. The liquor shipped from Hill and Hill distilleries Owensburg Kentucky to National Bell Drug company Vancouver Canada is held by customs at Portal and must be disposed from Washington.

Attempt to kill General O Duffy in ambush near Naas Road

Dublin report says General Owen O Duffy chief of the Irish civil police survived an ambush with General Hogan and two officers on Naas Road. A heavy pistol exchange followed and attackers were driven off, one wounded. Weather section notes North Dakota Minnesota and Great Lakes.

Review of Order Wages Hearings Open for Signalmen Increase

Hearings began in Judge Wilkerson's court and the U S railroad board on a petition by 15 000 signalmen demanding higher wages. The July 1 wage cut ranged five to seven cents an hour affecting 42 railroads and their subsidiaries. N D Marine Plane Falls in Maryland Crash

A Maryland air show disaster near Dundalk killed six people when a Martin bomber crashed during a balloon sniping contest. Lieutenants Herbert Hansen and John Patton Jr. survived the war and were among the pilots. The crash occurred about 100 feet in the air. cause remains undetermined.

Boy Fatally Injured by Auto in Gram Forks Incident

A five year old boy, Orville Morris Haugen, died after being run over by a car driven by Peter Hammersmith at the Fourth avenue and Cherry street intersection. Mrs. H J Pagett was slightly injured and two cars collided at Fifth Street and Belmont avenue, sending her from the vehicle. Coroner to decide on an inquest. funeral plans not yet set.

Two Prisoners Escape Ward County Jail In North Dakota

Herald report from Minot details the jailbreak of Tee Bradley alias Morris and Ray Williams, two Black inmates held on robbery and concealed weapons charges. Alleged jail attackers under arrest in Minnesota case

Detectives recognized Frank Allen and Mrs Emma Powers as the pair implicated in a 1919 statutory charge after a complaint by John Powers of LaMoure North Dakota. The case links a 1918 divorce and the woman’s marriage to Powers, then her leaving him for Allen.
