Dunn Murder Plot Recalls Montana Gas Plan Testimony

In St Paul on June 23 C Ferdig of Montana testified in the trial of Frank J Dunn charged with murdering his wife Mrs Alice McQuillan Dunn. Ferdig said Dunn voiced a wish to have his wife killed and once tried to flood the house with gas but she woke before enough could be released. He recounted a 1915 Montana outline of the plot to kill Mrs Dunn and said he intended to mislead Dunn about carrying out the plan for money yet had no real intent to kill. The Ferdig tale resembled the Redenbaugh gang actions before and after the shooting. Dunn claimed he did not participate with Ferdig and Al Brown and said the plan started with others in Montana.

In Bismarck North Carolina on June 32 orders to show cause why C B Burtness name should not appear on the Republican congressional ballot and why H T Vick F T Cuthbert and Charles Pinin should not be withdrawn were served on Thomas Hell secretary of State. The orders returnable next Tuesday afternoon were issued by the supreme court at the request of B F Spaulding for Burtness. H A Bronson will represent Hall. William Lemke announced via long distance that John M Baer had been named Republican nominee by the Nonpartisan League executive committee and would seek to have Baer declared the GOP nominee.
