Tyler Minn Aug 22 Between thirty and thirty five people were killed and more than 100 injured by a tornado that struck at 10 pm tearing the town apart. Twenty seven bodies identified. Electric plant and water works destroyed plunging the city into darkness. Rescue hampered by debris and rain. Home guards from Pipestone aiding in rescue. several landmarks and hospitals destroyed. Property losses estimated at least one million dollars.

After six years of hearings the interstate commerce commission ruled in the private car case that no extra charge will be made for freight in privately owned cars except when the base rate comes from a cheaper to operate car. An increase from three quarters to one cent per mile is allowed for tank poultry and heater cars to take effect October 15. other car types keep three-quarter cent per mile. Car racing by carriers must use actual cost plus a reasonable profit.

Armed trawler sinks schooner off Banquereau banks
A Canadian Atlantic Port report says the armed trawler Triumph sank the Amer Sylvania and the Pasadena near the Banquereau fishing banks. The Sylvania crew reached port, and the Pasadena's fate followed as the Lucille Schnare crew arrived with word of the attack. Huntington W Va Aug 22 A troop of military reserves with deputy marshals and guards from Mingo Wayne counties moved into Mingo county to confront a band of army deserters. In a clash yesterday deputy sheriff George Dillon and deputized civilian William Ellie were killed.
