The Hockaday chapter of the Order of De Molay held its first regular meeting in the Masonic hall on Tuesday night. Death of Joe Heighten Jr at Fort Worth Sanitarium
Joe Heighten Jr, about eighteen, died early Monday at the Baptist Sanitarium in Fort Worth after illness and meningitis linked to prior troubles. A Presbyterian Sunday School member, he hailed from the local community and was laid to rest in Oak Grove cemetery after a funeral at his East Third Street home led by Rev. Gary Smith. The community extends its sympathies to the Heighton family.

Chamber of Commerce Appeals for Graham Station Upgrade
Graham Chamber of Commerce directors pressed Rock Island and Wichita Falls and Southern railroad officials for improved Graham passenger station facilities. A hearing was granted by the Railroad Commission for September 12, with committee A W Kay D Walker and A A Morrison set to argue why a new station is needed now rather than in the distant future. District Court Opens in Graham for September Term
The September term of the District Court for the 30th Judicial District convened in Graham last Monday with Judge Wilson presiding. The grand jury was sworn in and several non-jury cases were disposed of on the first day. Many cases have been disposed of so far with few jury trials, and a list of cases tried will appear in the next issue. Judge Wilson is dispatching business rapidly and is expected to clear the docket within a year.
