Confederate Reunion at the Clear Fork Grounds 1906
The Confederate Reunion of 1906 drew about 2500 attendees to the Lewis place on the Clear Fork under a pecan grove. Despite low crowds due to river crossings and rumors, the three day event featured speeches by Geo. H. McLaren P. A. Martin W. P. Stinson and J. Carrigan, music by True and Eliasville bands, a baby show, and a notable performance by the Switzer sisters. A temperance speech by Faris and a Yorktown session capped by a thunderstorm, with veterans present and a roll call of attendees, marked a financially successful gathering for the Sons of Veterans.
