Farmers Welcome Better Weather
After two weeks of cloudy skies with about three inches of rain, sunshine returns. Cotton growers cheer the sun and cooler days as gathering begins, and many hope for several weeks of clear weather. Ground moisture favors sowing small grain and many have already started. Fields show good stands and a large fall grain crop is anticipated. Grass grows rapidly and cattlemen look for late frosts to allow more growth. frost fears persist with light frost reported in the Panhandle and Denison district.
