State Funds Received For County Highway Maintenance
County Treasurer C. J. Cook reported last week receipt from the State Highway Department of 714.41 as Young County’s half of auto and motorcycle registration fees. Fees are collected semi annually in September and March and will be used by the commissioners court for public highway maintenance per the State Highway Department plans.

John Parkinson Dies of Typhoid in Anson
John Parkinson longtime resident died of typhoid fever last Friday at his home in Anson. His remains were buried there the next day. He leaves a wife and several children, his mother Mrs. Mary Parkinson of this city, five sisters and two brothers all of Hood County and residents who attended the funeral.

George Harris Dead In El Paso Burial In Weatherford
George Harris a former prescription clerk in this city died of tuberculosis in El Paso last Friday. His body was shipped to Weatherford for burial on Sunday. He was married here to Miss Eula Smith and leaves one child.

Oil Struck at Goode Place Near South Bend
An oil well at 2200 feet on the Goode place near South Bend was struck last Wednesday evening. Drilling halted to move gear and secure tanks. oil bubbled from the top as the bore was suspended. If productive, four more wells may follow, boosting land values and drawing in eager investors.
