Olney Wins County Depository Contract With 3 Percent Rate

The Olney First National Bank won the county depository bid at 3 percent interest on daily balances after no other bids were made. Funds will transfer to Olney once bonds are filed and court approval is secured, and county warrants will be paid via checks drawn on Olney Bank instead of Graham banks. The move follows a new state law requiring counties to seek best deposit rates, though Graham banks reportedly did not bid. The change is expected to bolster the Olney bank and not affect public operations.
