Decoration and Picnic for Confederate Veterans
Last Friday honored Confederate Veterans with Decoration Day events. Veterans, Daughters of the Confederacy, and locals gathered at the courthouse and marched to the cemetery led by the Graham band. After graves were decorated, meals at the picnic followed, with Miss Linnie Herron supplying a cake decorated with U C V letters. Judge R F Arnold spoke and was thanked by the Daughters as crosses of honor were presented to veterans. Rev W M Goode also spoke before the crosses were awarded, prompting handshakes and tears as veterans contemplated future roll calls.
