The Eliasville Baptist congregation small with under fifty members aims to raise funds soon to erect a modest church. They will provide a sanctuary for weekly services, after previously meeting in the schoolhouse with one sermon monthly and Sunday school each week.

A small blaze occurred at noon in the post office building when Dr. C B Gant was away for lunch. Firefighters responded quickly and extinguished the fire with little damage. The origin is believed to be a chemical explosion in the doctor’s office.

Mr B F Peacock and Miss Eula Cloud were married by R C G Black in the Canty Clerk to a 5pm ceremony Monday evening. The couple receive the congratulations and best wishes of many friends in the community.
A couple, Jim Wray and Florence Bullock, were married at the home of Jno Bullock, south of Newcastle, on last Saturday morning. They are well known in the city and received warm congratulations from the Register.
Annie Laura Mrogan had an appendicitis operation at her parents home on South Oak Street last Monday and is reported to be doing well. She had recently recovered from pneumonia.
English author Cosmo Hamilton now in America with new plays and stories. He describes The Turning Point as a hand grenade for young couples and notes it appears in the April Hearst's Magazine, to be issued March 29.
Mrs. Hindman suffered a fracture of the right hip after a fall in the yard of her North Oak street home last Tuesday morning. Due to her advanced age the injury is serious.
The piece notes an imminent formal declaration of war against Germany at an upcoming Congress session. It says overt acts have occurred and four merchant ships are being armed for defense. It describes calls for recruitment and editorials urging enlistment, with the U.S. acting against Germany in a war limited to that nation and this republic.
The revival at the Methodist tabernacle in Olney continues to draw crowds with Ashley Chappell of Graham preaching and Rev Huckabee leading the choir. The event unites all denominations for the town’s revival and is seen as a hopeful renewal of old-time religion. Separately H L Tidwell suffered appendicitis and underwent a successful operation at Dr Harris Sanitarium in Fort Worth with family by his side.
Pat Woods delighted the audience at the First Baptist church Sunday morning with a beautiful voice selection accompanied by an orchestra.

The Buds of Promise class from First Baptist Church enjoyed a picnic last Tuesday afternoon at the reunion grounds south of town. Chaperoned by teacher Mrs. Hattie Miller, they traveled by automobile and shared a supper under the trees. Guests included Mrs. Virgil Tidwell and Pastor Rev. J R Keys.

Refusal or failure carries a misdemeanor charge with fines from twenty five to one hundred dollars per day. Officials may seize and dip animals with sheriff or constable help. costs become a lien and are recoverable by civil suit.
