Ten Cent Case to Open Supreme Court Term

A Delaware county suit from a 10 cent dispute heads the state supreme court docket for the term starting June 2. F W Hefbauer, ticketless aboard a Davenport and Northwestern train in 1879, paid 16 cents fare plus 10 cents on board. He claims the conductor dragged him from the car injuring him. He sues for 2000 dollars. the county court awarded 1000. The railway appeals, costs and lawyers’ fees expected to run high.
