Prof Hendrix Rider has been re elected as principal of our high school and we are glad to say that he has accepted. He has been associated with schools for the past four years and his work speaks for itself. We feel that we are fortunate to retain Mr Rider and congratulate the school board in retaining his services.

New Pastor Gaines Hall Arrives With Family

Rev Gaines Hall and his wife and son Clifford arrived in the city Tuesday night. He will assume duties as pastor of the Presbyterian church at once and be formally installed later. The Presbyterians feel fortunate to secure him given his strong record and reputation. He will attend the June 4 meeting led by Rev John E Mc Lean, evangelist for the presbytery.

Graham readers hear that Wichita Southern officials plan to visit Graham to finalize the contract for a new railway link to Newcastle and Wichita Falls. Kemp and Kell have been away, delaying talks, but Graham and Wichita Falls businessmen insist the line is certain and work should start this summer.

A Fishing Trip Causes Close Call With Fish

Monday morning Nat Price Eddie Jeffery Hendrix Rider Fred Mayes Joel Edens and Ed gar McLendon fished at 8 R Jefferys lower ranch for the funny tribe. Only a few hauls were made before they had enough. Supt McLendon’s hand shows he misread the fish as a three pound catfish nearly got him. He plans to be more cautious in handling the fish.

Mrs Simpson Returns Home With Family After Hen rietta Visit

Mrs J E Simpson and her children returned home from Henrietta where she had visited her parents Mr and Mrs Geo W Ellis since they left Mineral Wells. We are glad to hear she is improved in health and on the road to recovery from rheumatism.

K of P Lodge Installs New Gra ham Newcastle Branch

The Gra ham K P Lodge instituted a new lodge in Newcastle last Monday night with about thirty members including many town leaders. Graham Knights traveled by auto and reported a pleasant evening hosted by Newcastle residents. Medal Awarded At Baptist Church Commencement

At the close of the commencement exercises at the Baptist church last Friday night Supt Edgar McLendon presented a gold medal to Miss Beulah May Bell on behalf of Mrs John B Wood. The medal recognizes the student who devoted the most practice time since January 1 1911. Miss Bell logged 354 hours, averaging about three hours daily, and she attended school every day, reflecting strong dedication to her music studies.

Rocky Mound Family Horse Detained After Runaway

Last Sunday evening as the Blounts of Rocky Mound were starting Sunday School their team bolted. Mrs Blount fell from the vehicle and was knocked unconscious. She remains in a precarious condition while neighbors tend to the incident.

Graham’s Electric Light Plant Upgrade in Graham

R M Todd John Bowers and Virgil Eddleman bought the Graham light plant and rebuilt it with a high capacity steam dynamo replacing the gasoline setup. They bought 14 000 feet of lead wire and plan to improve wiring access and service speed. The meter shows 120 to 125 volts, promising bright lights. The public is invited to visit and learn about the plant. Graham Public Schools closed a successful term May 26 with diplomas awarded to twenty graduates by Sept Edgar McLendon.
