Reports say Mrs J W Taliaferro, matron, lost clothing and household goods in Ardmore Oklahoma orphanage fire. Her husband J W Taliaferro, an undertaker, died bathing in Salt Creek during an overflow. Daughter Dora Willie away visiting. Goods had been shipped by freight and were lost in the blaze following a gasoline car explosion.

Parrot Mascot Aids Recruitment Drive On Fifth Avenue
A parrot mascot of the battleship New York was trained to cry slacker when its tail is pulled. A petty officer carried the bird on Fifth Avenue as men of military age were prompted to enlist by the crowd shouting the cry.

Injured Man Recovering After Graham Mill Accident
