Paint and Marble Mines Near Graham Texas Report
Mr J E Ryus of Graham in Young county seeks machinery to work newly found paint mines two to three miles west of town. Samples show a brown paint rock rich in silica iron alumina with a three foot vein and another eight foot vein nearby. non combustible fire proof paint when burned. rail line through the mine expected to enable large scale operation. A polished marble sample from a quarry west of Graham promises long building material supply. The Fort Worth Western railroad project is tied to mine development. The Fort Worth Gazette reports the court of appeals affirmed a seven year sentence in the penitentiary for W T Simmons of Wright who killed a schoolboy in a card game.
