Tragedy at Brazos Ford Drowns Father and Child
Last Tuesday morning Elias Bowen his wife and daughter and his sister-in-law Mrs Oscar Bowen with her four children crossed the swollen Brazos river at McAdams ford when their wagon overturned. Ben Caudill on horseback aided victims as panic rose. The two year old child of Mrs Bowen was found dead trapped in wagon wheels behind the wreck. A Bowens brother hastened from Graham after learning of the disaster.

Mix-Up With Cultivator and Team Causes Spill
H M Jones, off week, explains he was mixing with a cultivator while plowing last Thursday. The team bolted as the cultivator upset, Jones was thrown to the ground and tangled with the wheels in a brief struggle. He escaped, stopped the team, and later found only a side injury, not broken ribs.

Cyclone Strikes Jacksboro Wrecks Homes Blows Doors Open
A cyclone hit Jacksboro last Wednesday afternoon between 4 and 5. It wrecked twelve to fifteen houses, tore down outhouses, and felled awnings along most business buildings. Three people were injured, including Mr. and Mrs. Calhoun and Mrs Burns. The Baptist church was lifted and shifted about ten feet. No fatalities reported. Consternation followed as residents assessed damage.

Centipede Bite Sends Man to Doctor Near Graham
Joe Garrett, loading wheat on a wagon at J. W. Jackson’s farm three miles east of Graham on the 4th, was bitten on the knee by a centipede. He sought treatment from Dr. Terrell and is recovering without further trouble.

Baptist Meeting to Begin Thursday Night
On Thursday night July 13 Rev M L McDowell of Waco will begin a series of meetings in the Graham courthouse yard, assisted by Pastor Brown and other local preachers. McDowell is an earnest expounder of the Word and former resident of Graham who once served as a Macedonia Missionary. He has been associated with Baylor University and is reputed a successful revivalist.
