The Graham Music Club elected officers for 1926 27 including Mrs E C Reed president and Miss Lillie Mae Calvin first vice president. Mary Prances Miller new press reporter and secretary reelected Spencer Mayes secretary and Mrs Hubbard treasurer. New parliamentarian Mrs W D McFarlane and others named. Meetings move to member homes. next meeting January 20 at Miss Calvin’s home. A constitutional amendment to admit junior students as the "Junior Section" is planned.

George B. Robertson of Stephenville says he purchased the Capitol Hotel in Graham and will move there with his son S. D. Robertson of Cisco in charge. The I Penseroso Literary Society of Graham High School met January 4 1926. Members gave New Year resolutions, read The Story of the Other Wise Man by Thelma Burton and discussed What We Should Do For the Annual. A debate on New Year resolutions followed with affirmative Louise Askew Clematis Taylor and negative Franklin Sims Doris Bryan. Extemporaneous talks suggested improvements for the society.

Two Prisoners Escape Young County Jail
G. T. Williams and Clyde Been escaped from Young County jail Sunday night by sawing bars with improvised tools and prying with sewer pipe devices. The two, in custody since October and a few days, left without forwarding addresses after reaching ground using blankets.

Officers Find Large Still Hidden in Burch Mine
Sheriff J B Foster and city officers McDonald and Bird found a first class still in the abandoned Burch mine west of Graham. The 40 gallon capacity apparatus was fired up and the product being prepared for distribution. The operators fled into the mine, a concealment Sheriff Foster says is easy. The find is described as one of the best stills recovered in his year as sheriff.

Plymouth Rock Hens Produce High December Egg Count
Mrs. W. M. Goode of South Bend keeps 98 Barred Rock hens and pullets and gathered 2373 eggs in December. Most birds range freely with trap nests. in one pen three hens laid 27 eggs, four hens 26, one hen 28. Eight Thompson Ringlet Rocks laid 205 eggs that month. On the coldest day she was six eggs short of matching her total hen count.

Annual Report of Ladies Aid Society at First Christian Church

Fire Hits McMurtry Home In Kentucky. Dallas Visit
Mr and Mrs John McMurry were at a Dallas bedside when their Kentucky residence burned at midnight on December 25. McMurry reports no clue to the fire’s cause. The fire caused heavy damage to the house and furnishings with little insurance. He had just bought new furniture and rugs.
