Sunday services across Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian congregations drew large crowds. Rev. Taylor preached from Luke II 25 on Simeon and warned sinners of eternal punishment. Rev. Bowman taught Galatians 3 24 about law and grace. Rev. Stalling spoke on Christ as a conqueror and the railroad to heaven with a Fort Worth artist chart. The day included Sunday schools and prayers, with offerings totaling modest sums. a house fire destroyed the Lisle home in Gooseneck Bend, no insurance.
Col C McPhaill is somewhat improved after a month of illness and was brought to town for a short visit yesterday. He is well liked in the town, with many callers at his home during his illness, and he expressed gratitude and prayer for his friends.
Several oil men visited the city this week but shared little new about field work. The well on Junge Arnolds place has reached about a hundred feet and reports say indications of oil and gas grow more promising daily.

A telegram from Mrs. H. W. Mobley to R. G. Hallam reports the death of four year old Mary Nell Mobley from meningitis in Bardwell Texas. Mobley was in Arkansas on business and could not be reached by wire until after the funeral arrangements. The message notes the child was an only daughter and beloved by her parents who hope for solace in the hereafter.
Miss Elizabeth Patterson married Edwin William Sharpe in Dallas on January 23. The couple will reside in Oak Cliff and Patterson is noted as a milliner for R F Short & Co. for three years. Friends extend wishes for happiness and prosperity.
The well north of Megargel on the Sidney Webb Ranch reaches 1070 feet this Thursday amid bad weather. Oil prospects improve with depth, and operators anticipate drilling a second well very soon north of Megargel according to the Megargel Enterprise.
J N Payne bought twenty three head of two year old steers from Will Copland at South Bend for 1700 dollars averaging 73 91 per head. The sale set a record price for market cattle in the area and Payne shipped to Fort Worth noting no loss on the deal. The stock were top notch and the note urges raising high grade stock as it costs no more than scrubs and brings higher prices.
