The Graham Chamber of Commerce raised 180 to purchase fifteen sweaters for the Graham High School football team after a record season of eleven games with eight wins and 218 points scored to 67 allowed. Donors include M. K. Graham, Graham Refining Co, First National Bank, and many local businesses and individuals. The gifts will be presented to the 1922 team.

Uncle Pink Brooks Secures Arkansas Language Teacher
Uncle Pink Brooks told The Leader last Saturday that a man is employed to teach the Arkansas language. W. O. Galloway moved to Arkansas over a year ago but returned due to not knowing the language. Stewart failed to appear as appointed. Uncle Pink continues efforts to find a competent instructor, believed now to reside in Graham.

Sheriff Names Deputies for Several Texas Towns
Sheriff Dan Cambern announced the deputies with W. J. A Cooper as chief deputy and appointments in Graham for John Casey and C. H. Dodgin, Olney for Horace Bishop, Newcastle for H. C. Judge Wilson orders halt to open season on killings

Whitehead to Spud New Well Sunday in Graham area
C W Whitehead rigs up on Johnson land one mile east of Graham city limits and plans to spud by year end. He expects a 2500 foot well and may drill to 4500 if no commercial producer is found. The Rubenkoenig, Sedder and Eisinger sites show active development with nearby Halmack and Sedder wells performing well. A new era of development is anticipated for the Graham area in the new year.

The Goodfellows Club reports about 1100.00 contributed for lightening holiday burdens. Roughly 700.00 cash distributed, 200.00 in toys and gifts, with 200.00 remaining to be turned over to United Charities. About 70 families and 200 children benefited this Christmas, aided by devoted volunteers and Mrs. Stewart.

Jail Escape Shocks County as Three Convicts Free Prisoners
Six prisoners in Oil City’s county jail overpowered jailer G A Tackett about 4:30 pm, gagged and bound him, and escaped with Izzy McWilliams Doc Williams and Happy Conley. Tackett recovered his senses two hours later after the trio allegedly seized a gun and keys and fled south. The sheriff dispatched officers across neighboring counties to pursue the trio who left the jail before dawn on the eve of the new sheriff’s taking charge.
