Mrs. I E Suttle wife of Rev F E Suttle pastor of the Baptist church at Throckmorton died at her home there last Thursday morning after a short illness. Her remains were brought to Oak Grove cemetery for burial Friday. Dr W T Rouse pastor of the First Baptist Church conducted the funeral services. Mrs Suttle was raised in this county and had many friends here. The bereaved family is joined by the community in condolence. W M Glidewell of Finis reports twelve hogs six months old averaging 155 pounds sold at 6 75 each and three hogs weighing about 1200 pounds dressed for meat next year. He notes a drought shortened feed crop but ample feed to supply stock and future prospects brighter. He urges farmers to raise more hogs cattle and feedstuff and less cotton.
Fire of unknown origin damaged the Mountain side Barber Shop last Saturday night. Night watchman Schlittler spotted flames through the roof and alerted the volunteers. Firemen arrived quickly, prevented the roof from collapsing, but the building was ruined. some furniture and a chair were saved. The barbers had left their pench about twenty minutes earlier, discovered by Schlittler.
Jay Garvin and Miss May Gallaher along with Grover Gallaher and Miss Belle Carter were married at Jnc B Wood's home in east Graham last Sunday at 7 am with Judge E W Fry officiating. The couples headed to Fort Worth for a celebratory visit after the ceremony. The community, including residents of Brier Branch, extends hearty congratulations.
P. J. Cochran a leading Newcastle merchant makes an assignment for creditors with J. M. Warren of the Newcastle Register named as assignee. The failure is blamed on poor collections. The editor expresses regret and hopes Cochran can resolve the matter and continue the business.
A large crowd gathered Monday for livestock trading and Christmas shopping as country visitors selected goods before stocks dwindled. Bronco busting was down as buyers chatted, and clerks stayed busy amid displays of presents in town shops.
Mr. Joe A. Chappell and Miss Bessie L. Calvin of Newcastle were united in marriage in Graham last Monday with Rev. W. T. Rouse officiating. The ceremony followed their trip to Graham to procure the necessary papers.

Rev Singleton preached on Samson while Rev Rouse lectured on the Crucifixion and Rev Hall spoke on Sin Its Development and Results. An evening union with Presbyterians featured Dr Hall on What Shall I Do To Be Saved and Miss Tyler Wilkinson spoke on State Work for Christian Endeavor.
A good rain fell across Graham's trade territory last Tuesday and Tuesday night soaking the earth and aiding the wheat crop. Rain was general across the state and expected to benefit Texas more than any other of the year. In southern county areas and near Ivan, grain was suffering but received needed moisture to prolong its resilience.
A fire starting from a defective flue in Bridgefarmer and Vanzant’s store wiped out the business section of Orth after 8 am on December 7. Losses total about 7,500 for Bridgefarmer and Vanzant with 34,000 insurance, 1,500 for the I O O F building, 8,000 for J T Lowe’s drugs and stock, 2,000 for H Powell’s building and goods. insurers listed. Citizens plan immediate rebuilding with stone structures likely replacing the burned frame buildings.
