By beating the Methodists last Thursday the Baptists join the Presbyterians for the second half of the Sunday School Baseball League. The Baptists have clinched the championship but the tie leads to a proposed one game or three game playoff. Alberts pitched well for the Baptists and Smith for the Methodists.

Graham Wins Slow Ball Game From Newcastle
Graham defeated Newcastle 11 to 10 last Friday in a tight slow ball contest. The Graham team built a early lead, Newcastle surged ahead, and the game swung until the ninth inning when Graham plated three runs to clinch the victory. A large crowd attended and the win extends Graham’s four week Friday streak. Visitors included Mr. E. E. Hall and son Morris of Markley and Dr. B. R. McCloud of Santo.

G I A President Dies in Dallas After Brief Illness
Dr F M Bralley 59 president of the College of Industrial Arts at Denton died in a Dallas sanitarium after a brief illness. He had a long Texas educational career including State Superintendent of Public Instruction and later president of the College of Industrial Arts. He is survived by his wife and four sons.

Light Showers Raise Hope for County Cotton
Light showers have fallen in Graham and surrounding areas but not enough to moisten ground. Farmers expect variable yields, with many hoping for one fifth to one third bale per acre despite a dry summer. Some fields harmed by grasshoppers and rain needed for stock water. The recent showers eased heat and lowered temperatures.

Brooks Family Reunion At Brazos Home Near Graham
On August 20 the children and grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Brooks gathered at their Brazos county home west of Graham for a large family reunion. Uncle Pink, a pioneer and former county sheriff, attended with his long political involvement noted. The Sunday dinner featured an old fashioned Southern feast with many relatives from Graham, Proffitt, Throckmorton, Goree, Dallas, Austin, Murray, and more. The gathering marked fifty two years of married life for the Brookses, with Uncle Pink described as hale past eighty and fond of wolf hunting.

Rock Island completed six water tanks in the stock pens this week aiding shipping interests. W. B. Harrison was the first to benefit, driving in fifty head of cattle and shipping part of his calf crop from his ranch north of the city. City Schools Open Monday for Organization
