Prof Earl L Howell, Graham superintendent, returns home to ready for the 1917 18 term which will begin Monday September 10th. Reverend T T Black Dies After Long Illness
Rev. T. T. Black brother of Rev. G. W. Black died at his Olney home after Bright's disease. His body was brought to Oak Grove cemetery for 5 o clock burial. Services were led by Rev. J. J Reynolds and the Olney I O O F lodge. He was a longtime minister and leaves a wife and several children.

Pastor Appointment At Stamford First Presbyterian
Rev. T. M. Cunningham accepted the pastorate at the First Presbyterian church in Stamford and will begin duties September first. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Rev. S. A. Barnes, pastor of the Methodist church at Wichita Falls, is touring with his family to visit F. M. Burkett and other old friends. He once served Graham’s Methodist church seventeen or eighteen years ago and has many admirers here who welcome his return.

Shooting at Newcastle Injures Graffman Near Ford Garage
Adolph Graffman was shot on Newcastle streets at 11 30 this morning by O C Buckshot Miles who surrendered to Sheriff Wallace and was jailed at Graham. Two shots from a shotgun with No 4 shot peppered him from head to feet. none of the shot deeply penetrated. He fell at the second shot but walked to a restaurant and waited for help. By five p m he rested well and is expected to recover.

Gatlin accidentally shoots left leg in pistol discharge
B A Gatlin shot himself in the left leg with a small calibre pistollast Saturday evening while unloading after shooting a snake. The bullet passed below the knee and he is about but suffers little.

Fifteen year old injured in machinery accident at Union Gin
John Orrell, son of Mr and Mrs Wade Orrell, was seriously hurt at the Union Gin last Friday evening when his clothing became tangled in the main shaft. The accident, caused by new machinery, left him with multiple injuries including a dislocated shoulder, fractured shoulder blade, arm breaks, rib fractures, facial injuries, and extensive bruising. Doctors performed an operation, but prospects for recovery are grim. The article also notes recent rains bringing stock water but limited crop benefit.
