Washington April 15 There are many applications on file in the postoffice department for postoffice inspectors. Appointments must follow examination and certification by the United States circuit civil service commission. Names and addresses have been sent to the commission who will notify candidates of exam locations and dates.
Near Red Oak Ellis county the barn of B C Lancaster burned with all contents. Two mules and a fine mare perished and three other mules were badly injured. Loss is 1600 with no insurance.
Texarkana Arkansas April 16 last week Mr Lyman, while running a fence line on the Chappell plantation at Red River, unearthed a well preserved skeleton upright in the riverbank. He cut away clay with a knife and discovered crude pottery relics showing surprising artistry. A smaller youth’s remains lay nearby in advanced decay. The farm has been cultivated over four decades.
