The Baptist Sunday School reported 140 attendees with Rev Rouse preaching Following the Risen Christ and a later Salvation through the Blood of the Cross sermon. About 25 covenanted to set up family altars and 25 pledged tithes. Six professions of faith and six baptisms. The Methodist meeting drew 97 at Sunday School and run a week long revival with Rev Biggs preaching I came not to Destroy but to Save and Repentance and Faith. Epworth League and workers meeting with Korea topic Wiley Bryan led by Miss Mary Craig. Christians had 47 at Sunday School. Ethel Pearce sang. Presbyterians had 43 at Sunday School. Rev Murry spoke on Faith and The Chief Work of the Church. Endeavor temperance program featured Miss Nell Broyles and C B Jones led by president.
Neighbors of Mrs Jnc C Kay gathered at Mrs J Vaughan's home last Tuesday for a shower. Thirty-one letters hidden about the rooms spurred guests to form a sentence with a present reading. The event included a fine dessert served by Mesdames Eddleman and Vaughan and honored Mrs Kay as she prepares to leave for Wichita.
All members are urged to attend Sunday School as usual at the Presbyterian church. Rev. McMurry will deliver a special sermon to the children at the close of the Sunday School.
The B Y P U program for Sunday April 16 presents a theme on regeneration. Ed Jeffery leads the session and Christ. Babb handles the scripture John 3 1 16 as Jesus converses with Nicodemus. Ellen Black explains John 3 5 and J T Rickman discusses regeneration of the heart. Miss Mary E Finch asks what the sinner must do.
The Missionary Society of the Baptist Church met with Mrs. Jeffery on Thursday April 6 with twenty five ladies present. The president Mrs Craw ford led devotionals and the Joshua lesson was postponed. Mite box contents and offering totaled 46 35 dollars with 30 given to Home and Foreign Missions and 31 to the parsonage fund. Three new members Ellen Black Annie Carmack and Mrs Edgar Schlittler joined. Doreas Society will meet April 20 at Mrs Crawfords home. Captured in reporter notes.
Rev S J McMurry will return Saturday from the Presbytery and preach a special sermon to the children after Sunday School. He left Wednesday for Hillsboro to attend the Presbytery meeting in Fort Worth.
At the Baptist church next Sunday morning the hand of fellowship will be extended to all who united with the church during the recent meeting. Let everyone be present.
In Graham on Monday two o'clock a Prohibition mass meeting at the court house organized the State-Wide Prohibition party of Young County. Frank Herron named chairman and W T Rouse secretary. Committees elected to set up local precincts and a county executive, with Crawford as County Chairman and Judge J W Akin as County Secretary.
The Primary, Junior and Intermediate Departments of the Christian Sunday School will be resumed commencing Sunday the 16th. H. L. Tidwell, Supt.
A tornado swept parts of Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas late yesterday afternoon and last night, leaving about twenty five dead, injuring more than one hundred, rendering over five hundred homeless and causing thousands of dollars in property damage. Fatalities vary with the death toll uncertain.
The family of Mr. John C Kay leaves Gra ham for Wichita Falls this week to establish a new home. The community expresses regret at their departure and best wishes for happiness and success follow them to their new surroundings and neighbors.
L H Bud Harris narrowly avoided serious harm when a frightened horse bolted last Monday. The buggy overturned after the bridle bits broke, dragging him until bystanders arrived. He was taken home to East Graham and treated by a physician who said no bones were broken and he should be up in a few days.
Judge Thompson of Stephenville will deliver a prohibition speech next Saturday evening at 2 o’clock. The venue is on the street or from the band stand in the courtyard park. All citizens of the town and county are urged to hear him for his strong message.
A call pledges every officer and teacher along with all members of the Baptist Sunday School to be in their places Sunday morning. The notice urges a great day for all and especially requests the primary grades to be present.
Rev J H Zimmerman visited our town to report a strong prohibition club forming in Loving. He said Rev FP Pearce will speak there on Thursday night May 4 to energize the movement and rally the county to push prohibition efforts.
S. P. Taylor of Loving and his brother in law Dr. A J Bradley with family from Albany Oklahoma were in the city this morning.
