The Mid-Texas No 2 Graham on the Graham Oil Syndicate lease tapped the sand today and is reported by Joe Johnson as good for between 400 and 500 barrels. The well has not yet been fully completed, Johnson said.
Paris reports Premier Briand with political wind favoring his stand on reparations and Upper Silesia. Deputies believed aligned with Briand, raising expectation the Chamber will approve his approach toward Germany.
Contractors Herger & Chambers of Dallas begin ground work today for a three story county jail on the courthouse lawn with a jailor residence on the lower floor. The firm is also constructing a nearby Methodist church at a cost of $70,000.
Leslie Riodan, a Sterling County cattleman, indicted in the death of T. E. Moon at Sterling City last April, was released on a 10 099 bond for trial in December in San Angelo.

Chicago May 26 feudists in the bloody nineteenth ward report another death in the violence linked to the Deandera faction. Michael L cari, lieutenant of the late Anthony Deandera, who was shot in his room, died today.
Captain Eddie Rickenbacker took off from Redwood California for a two day transcontinental flight to Washington but was forced to turn back shortly after departure due to fog. The trip began around 4 06 this morning with the aviator stating he would make it sure.
Twenty prisoners confined here escaped during the night by sawing eight steel bars and sliding from the courthouse roof to the ground on blankets tied together. Three men have been captured.
Veterans from 1861 65 Spanish American and World War I join a memorial service at the Christian church Sunday at 4 PM. After the service veterans march to the cemetery to decorate graves, flowers requested from all. program includes invocation reading of names, quartets, short talks by Dr. Petty and P S Phillips, and an address by Judge S A Penix.

Liepzig May 26 Germany convicts its first war criminal when Sergeant Heinan is sentenced to ten months in prison and ordered to pay part of the trial costs after being found guilty of maltreating British and Belgian prisoners of war.
In May the Denver Leadville narrow gauge train crawled through a severe Colorado blizzard. A 70 mile wind, falling telegraph poles, boulders from the canyon walls and drifting snow halted progress near Pine Grove 40 miles from Denver. Passengers endured darkness and the minister prayed in vain as the engine failed to advance.

Washington May 26. President Harding has decided to appoint William Howard Taft chief justice of the United States Supreme Court to succeed the late Chief Justice Edward Douglas White. The nomination may go to the Senate within a week or ten days.
A man who gave the name Jack Morgan age 30 staggered into Charity Hospital in Shreveport Louisiana seeking relief from tar and feathers reportedly placed on him by masked men. Police say Morgan has a history of vagrancy arrests.
Washington May 26 completion of arrangements whereby debtors of the Allied nations will deliver their long time securities to this country covering a ten billion dollar debt will take place within the year it was decided today by Secretary of the Treasury Mellon.

In Washington on May 26 Dr G R Lee Cole filed a 25000 libel suit in the District of Columbia Supreme Court against Mrs Caroline Votaw sister of President Harding. He alleges a letter she wrote on April 29 during the Cole marriage case damaged his good name. Crandall Mackey represents the plaintiff. Harding's secretary was notified but the letter remained private.
Winona Lake Indiana May 26 Rev J L McElmoyie a marrying parson who allegedly aided elopers will be ousted from the Elkton Maryland pulpit by a Presbyterian general assembly judiciary committee, announced today.
Federal agents are seeking the identity of masked white men alleged to have whipped Dr J C Paul during an abduction. The assailants allegedly impersonated federal officers to gain entry to the doctor’s office in Beaumont. Paul returned to Beaumont and said he would testify before a grand jury despite threats.
Houston dispatch says gasoline now sells for 20 cents a gallon with a two cent reduction considered general statewide. Officials believe the price cut applies broadly across Texas.
