Berlin reports Germany moves to form a cabinet to accept reparations terms and shifts focus to the Polish invasion of Upper Silesia. Germany offers troops to the Entente to aid against advancing Poles.
The Graham Chamber of Commerce held at the courthouse elected a new board of directors including M. K. Graham J. S. Criswell E. C. Stovall and J. C. Lovelace. Speeches by Judge R. E. Erwin and other leaders highlighted oil prospects growth and civic projects for Graham and Young County.
Governor Pat M. Neff will head a conference in Austin next Monday with representatives and bankers from the cotton associations and cotton producers associations. The meeting follows the pink boll worm quarantine affecting Texas cotton, as announced by Texas Chamber of Commerce officials.
Chicago May 5 Judge Landis denied reports he had resigned from the Federal bench to serve as baseball commissioner. He stated he has not resigned and has not said anything implying resignation. The Senate Judiciary Committee action about a conflict bill fueled rumors of a future step.
Washington May 6 The Cabinet plans to consider America’s answer to invitations for unofficial representation in the Allied Supreme Council Reparations Commission and the Ambassador’s Conference. Hughes and Hoover reportedly favor participation.
In Denison Texas on May 6 two men accused of looting three stores fled to a small outhouse where a gunfight with Sheriff Boyd Craig and officers ended their flight. The Akers Grocery Yeidel Bookstore and U S Clothing Store were entered.
The Chamber of Commerce will host a meeting to elect the Graham baseball club president secretary and treasurer. Candidates listed include S. Boyd Street R. S. Lynch Dillard Hinson Jim Carleton J. D. Hemphill and Ben Johnson.
In East Alton, Illinois, Chris Ran, 32, a coal operator, choked his wife at a crowded dance hall and then traveled to Wood River where he shot and killed his brother John Ran after the latter intervened in the domestic quarrel. Police report the double incident occurred this morning.
Wichita Falls May 6 The call to meet May 11 urges total curtailment of oil output and delaying new completions as sections are shut in by agreement. Officials say curtailment is the only way to affect the current market. The gathering will also consider tariffs on Mexican crude imports.
The Wichita Falls Record-News moves Graham news forward as train service begins. The Record-News arrives by 11:30 am with latest news, while other papers reach Graham later. B E Fogleson will boost Graham circulation and a correspondent is assigned. Passanet will stay in Graham briefly.
The Lauck-Gallagher Co owners of the northeast square block announce voluntary rent reductions up to 50 dollars a month. Mr Gallagher cites money tightness and falling business as reasons tenants deserve landlord help and expects a short downturn before better times. Leading businessmen say rents are high for reduced demand and hope Greham landlords follow suit.
Paris May 6 United Press reports France began mobilizing half a million troops to invade Germany if Allied terms are violated. Premier Briand warned invasion would follow any evasion. France plans to keep conscripts mobilized until new classes are trained, with 132 thousand on the Rhine and an invasion force of 150 thousand in the first army.
Oklahoma City May 6. The State Corporation Commission will hear a question on May 18 whether a State order can suspend all oil drillings in Oklahoma temporarily.
The Burk Rex Oil Company and Jaynes A Ruie of San Antonio are cited by the Federal Trade Commission in an application for the issuance of a complaint of unfair competition in the sale of stock.
Thomas E. Wilson of Wilson & Company testified before the House Agricultural Committee in Washington on May 6 that the export trade of the large meat packers declined by 526 million dollars in the last year. He spoke in opposition to proposed packer legislation.
George B. Fuller, representing White Oil, announced in Graham that a 5 000 barrel well was brought in on the Nancy Walker survey in Stephens county. The well yields 12 000 cubic feet of gas with pay reached at 3580 feet.
A Cisco Northeastern survey led by Dr. J. H. Ball visited Crystal Falls and nearby oil fields. Officials projected extending the Lee road north from Breckenridge through Throckmorton to Seymour via Crystal Falls, Woodson, tapping oil coal and farming lands.

Bert King of Wichita Falls was re-elected State Consul of the Modern Woodmen of America in the quadrennial session. Carl Gallagher of McKinney was re-elected State Clerk and Austin was chosen as 1925 meeting place. Delegates to Head Camp in St Louis in June named. district delegates listed from multiple Texas cities.
Marion Burkett of Graham is announced as the Shrine Diamond candidate for the Maskat Temple event in Wichita Falls on Monday May 9. Campaign managers John Gallaher and Jim Smith, with R P Brother tin aiding, urge Graham nobles to join the parade and support Marion at Kemp Hotel ten a m and 11 a m parade.
Cisco Ranger Texas May 6 police and Federal officers arrest C C Vincent a photographer on a charge of representing the Communist Party and circulating Red literature with a report from Cisco authorities and Federal agents.
Paris May 6 The Reparations Commission demands Germany pay one billion gold marks within thirty five days as the first reparations payment.
The State Board of Education approves a plan to route textbooks through county superintendents rather than state depositories for small districts. Book depositories subsidize part of the cost. Miss Annie Webb Blanton will meet Dallas depository representatives to finalize terms. if terms are not agreed, the current system stays in effect.
